Roses by any other name are just as frozen

So I got out and took a wee walk in my semi-frozen yard this morning looking for some nice pictures to be able to post to help some folks identify what I think is a Rosa that they have.

So, here are some pics that I took today.

These are either Sweetbrier (Rosa egalanteria), or something darn close. Though they bloom whitish, not pinkish. Could be either a slightly different Rosa, or just a different strain.

Note the bright red rose hips in the picture above. And the THORNS! The recurved thorns are utterly wicked. This is one rose you do NOT want to grab a hold on any part of you, be it your hair, skin, or clothing.

Below is a close-up of the rose hips.

Here are two pictures of another rose, a domesticated one that I get beautiful roses from every year. Note the different thorns on the canes, and the leaf serrations.
